A formation of B-17's from Sioux City AAB (note the "SC" with the tail numbers). Newspaper reports state that 42-30762 was with a flight of from 9 to 23 other B-17's the night of the crash, official reports, however, seem to indicate the plane was alone.

The following pictures are taken from the official Army crash report. There were eight pictures in total, due to microfilm deterioration, these are the only ones that are discernable in any way.

I believe this picture ran on the front page of the Ontonagon newspaper, if not, it is a personal photograph, origin unknown.

If anybody has good quality pictures from the crash in 1944, I would be more than happy to post them here, with the proper acknowledgement, of course.
